Automatic content recognition

Automatic Content Recognition  (ACR) is a technology for identifying content that is playing on a media device or present in a media file. Devices implementing ACR may allow the device or its manufacturer to automatically collect "screen-level" content consumption information without any user input or searching. This information may be collected for purposes such as personalized advertising, content recommendations, or for sale to customer data aggregators, among other applications.
